Hey there!

I began my professional journey with a BA in Accounting, working as an Internal Auditor for a county for two years and then as an Accountant/Budget Analyst for a small, growing city for three years. These roles required strong analytical skills, attention to detail, problem-solving, and the ability to communicate complex information clearly. As I would later discover, these skills are highly transferable to UX design.

After several years in finance, I pursued an alternative teaching certificate and spent ten years as a high school math teacher. Teaching strengthened my empathy, communication, and instructional design abilities, and helped me better understand how people learn, think, and interact with information.

UX design first caught my attention because it blends creativity and problem-solving with a strong focus on helping people. As I explored the field more deeply, I realized how naturally my previous experiences aligned with UX. My background in accounting allows me to analyze research and data thoughtfully, while my teaching experience enables me to empathize with users, identify their needs, and design intuitive, accessible solutions.

I’ve developed a strong appreciation for the user-centered nature of UX design and the role research plays in guiding thoughtful design decisions. I’m motivated by the idea that well-designed experiences can solve real problems while creating moments of clarity and delight for users. Looking ahead, I see myself in a remote role contributing to impactful projects and designing solutions that help users confidently complete tasks while continuing to grow as a UX designer.
